REPORT | More Than the Usual Suspects: Western nadian export opportunities to Japan under the CPTPP
nada’s advantage over the United States in Japan from the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) lasted a whole 13 months. The CPTPP offered nada signifint opportunities to increase and diversify exports to Japan. However, those opportunities narrowed when the U.S. struck a partial trade agreement with Japan in October 2019. This is expected to erode advantages that nada had briefly enjoyed over the U.S. in the Japanese market when the agreement me into effect January 2020. nada needs to move more quickly.

The 'absurd' state of nadian internal trade – and how to fix it
As nada enters more free trade agreements abroad, internal trade at home remains anything but free. Despite various internal trade agreements (and despite recent efforts on the part of some provinces, particularly Alberta and Manitoba, unilaterally reducing their internal trade barriers), progress on an open internal market in nada has been slow. So slow, in fact, that Bank of nada Governor Stephen Poloz, at a recent armchair chat, lled them “absurd.”
